Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell (born in New York City) is an American TV reporter, journalist and anchor of NBC News based at Washington D.C. Mitchell holds a bachelor's degree in English language from University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell began her career with KYW Radio and TV as the Philadelphia reporter in 1967. In 1976 she joined the CBS affiliate WDVM-TV. (then WTOP in Washington DC). Within two years she was hired by NBC News as a Washington reporter. In 1981 began working for the White House and became chief congressional correspondent in 1988. She was made the Chief White House correspondent in 1992. And chief foreign affairs Correspondent for NBC News. Mitchell was host and panelists on the TV program Meet the Press. She participated as a member of a panel discussion at the 1988 presidential debates between George Bush, and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married Alan Greenspan a former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell was awarded the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism in 2005, which was awarded by the John F. Kennedy School of Government. The Radio-Television News Directors Association awarded Mitchell Leonard Zeidenberg the award in 2004 for her role in protecting First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell was a reporter at the White House first for NBC News between 1981 and 1988 in the two years that Ronald Reagan served as president. Mitchell covered a range of interesting stories such as weapons control, the budget tax reform, and the Iran-contra scandal. Mitchell went on numerous trips together with President Reagan to meetings with Mikhail Gorbachev and other world top leaders.
